Picture Time

This is fun. In case regular old boring clocks aren't doing it for you, or if you want to feel connected to everyone everywhere when you check the time, go see. People across the universe took pictures of themselves or their places that include a specific minute of the day. This website magically arranges them to appear in sequence with the passing of time. Neat-o.

And in case you'd rather slow it down and really get to know these folks, check out the Human Calendar for a monthly pace.

On Love and Foolishness

“I must learn to love the fool in me–the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my fool.” — Theodore I. Rubin, MD

Vancouver

We arrived today in Vancouver to stay at this little downtown boutique hotel just a minute's walk from Stanley Park. We walked by the waterfront earlier, took pictures of giant trees, then drank red wine and took a nap. I think I like it here.

Our trip has been great. Wonderful, really. Seattle and old friends, Portland and new places, a few stops along the Olympic peninsula and coastal Washington and now here, Canada. We're having fun and exploring and getting to know each other, celebrating new records for waking up together and finding a lot to smile about.

I feel a million miles from home, from school and work and real life worries. Well, some of them follow us everywhere--the future looms large now that we have a second to notice it, but I'm getting along anyway. I'm so glad we came, so happy to be here together.

We have til Monday in Vancouver, then we're headed back south to catch our flight home from Seattle. More to come--photos and stories from the rest of our trip soon.
